Counselling in Bedfordshire — In Person in Bedford or Online From Home

If you're looking for a counsellor in Bedfordshire, it can be hard to know where to start. Do you want to sit in a room with someone, or would you rather talk from your own sofa? Is it worth the journey? And how do you know who's right for you?
I hope this post makes those questions a little easier, whichever way you decide to go.
Where I see clients
My practice is at Castle Consulting Rooms on Goldington Road, in Bedford town centre. I see people from Bedford itself and from towns and villages across the county, including Kempston, Biggleswade, Sandy, Ampthill and Flitwick. I also offer online sessions, so where you live doesn't have to limit who you work with.
In person or online: which is right for you?
There's no right answer here. It depends on what feels comfortable for you.
In person: a private space that's just for you, away from home and everyday distractions. Many people find the journey there and back gives them time to settle before a session and reflect afterwards.
Online: sessions by secure video call from home or anywhere private. There's no travel, which can make it easier to fit around work, family or a low-energy day. You'll need a quiet space and a decent internet connection.
Both are the same length and the same quality of work. If you're not sure, we can talk it through in your free consultation. You can also read more about how online counselling works.
What I can help with
I work with adults and couples. Common reasons people get in touch include anxiety and overwhelm, depression and low mood, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties and couples counselling, trauma and childhood experiences, and neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism.
How to choose the right counsellor
A good counsellor will make you feel heard, not judged, and won't rush you. It's worth checking their training and whether they're registered with a professional body. I'm BACP accredited, which means my work meets a recognised professional standard. It's also fine to ask about fees up front, and I've written about what counselling costs if that's on your mind.
Most of all, trust your own sense of whether you feel comfortable with the person. That's why I offer a free 30-minute consultation before any sessions begin.
